The signal heard round the (virtual) world. That was the concept behind this show open for TechTV's nightly news magazine. The premise was everything's digital, information is shuttled around instantaneously, and the only barriers that exist are caused by bandwidth.

The tricky part of this open was designing the accordion segment in the middle, where footage could be swapped out based on the evening's content. As the open was designed to be a seamless flow of information, when everything halts to focus on the evening's content, the momentum still needed to be there. The solution, surprisingly, was a straight cut.

The "TechLive" open won a BDA in the category for News Programming In-House Open.

Designed, created, animated, and comped entirely in Flame, with the exception of the Earth at the beginning, which had Maya support from in-house artist Michael Wills.
